Coalition Members Open College Applications

This fall, 139 colleges and universities plan to accept college applications through MyCoalition. 38 new members join 103 institutions who launched their college applications in MyCoalition last year.

Coalition schools are committed to making college accessible to all students, particularly those from historically under-represented groups. We accomplish this with MyCoalition, our free, online toolkit that engages students in the college application process early and easily.

"At Virginia Tech, we are revamping our admissions process as part of a university goal that by 2022, 40% of our student body will be under-represented, first generation, or lower-income students. As part of our overhaul, we will use the Coalition Application for all degree-seeking undergraduate applicants,” according to Juan Espinoza, Vice President of Enrollment Management at Virginia Tech which will offer the application for the first time this fall. “With MyCoalition, all students can have access to the tools and resources they need to apply to college. That preparation helps them complete their college application and simultaneously provides our admissions team with better information to identify applicants’ unique characteristics.”

Lynn Barnes, Director of Admissions at Texas A&M added, “We saw the Coalition as an opportunity to reach students who might not have considered our institution as an option. It has allowed us to expand the Texas A&M brand and to increase access for students across the country.”

In addition to free resources, the Coalition supports students and their families by providing a clear signal that our schools — all 150 member colleges and universities — are schools that they can afford to attend, and likely graduate from. It’s a fact: Coalition schools have higher graduation rates — 30 percentage points higher — than the national average. Coalition schools also provide students and families with responsible financial aid. As a result, students graduate with significantly lower indebtedness than their peers who attended other colleges and universities.

"The University of Texas at Austin is firmly committed to providing an affordable, world class education that enables students to pursue and achieve their dreams,” said Miguel Wasielewski, Director at UT-Austin which will also offer the Coalition Application for the first time this fall. “Our membership in the Coalition is a reflection of our steadfast dedication and shared commitment to educational opportunity and student success.”

Coalition member colleges and universities open their applications and invite students to complete college specific questions throughout the summer. Some schools will accept the Coalition Application in addition to current applications, while other schools will require all students to use the Coalition Application. All remaining Coalition member schools will accept the Coalition Application in the 2020/2021 cycle.
