In the fall of 2018, the Coalition for College announced its partnership with IDEA Public Schools, a network of 79 tuition-free, Pre-K-12 public charter schools, currently serving approximately 45,000 students. Through this pilot project, which targets 9th-12th graders in seven IDEA high schools in Texas, the Coalition will help integrate MyCoalition into IDEA’s College Success curriculum as well as provide customized modules and professional development, among other initiatives, to promote college access for participating IDEA students.
Like the Coalition, IDEA supports lower-income, under-resourced, and/or first-generation students on their paths to college.
“IDEA’s student demographics (94 percent Hispanic, 89 percent economically disadvantaged) and mission (100 percent of graduates accepted to college) make it an ideal pilot partner for us,” explains Annie Reznik, executive director of the Coalition. “We are excited to work with this network, and we hope to expand this program to all of IDEA’s high school students going forward.”
