Coalition For College, Scoir and Technolutions Join Forces in a New Partnership to Expand College Access

Jan. 27, 2022

The Coalition for College, Scoir, and Technolutions are embarking on a new partnership rallied around the mission of expanding college access and bolstering the post-collegiate success of lower-income, under-resourced, and first-generation students.

Rather than provide a separate application, the Coalition for College will integrate the application process within Scoir, software that many students and counselors use every day. Scoir makes its robust set of college advising tools free to all students and free to Title I eligible schools.

This new, integrated application experience will launch this summer.

“Since the Coalition was founded, we’ve been working not only to improve the college application experience for under-served students, but to support students throughout the admissions process,” says Stacey Kostell, CEO of the Coalition. “Partnering with a mission-aligned organization like Scoir will help us continue to improve upon that work and strengthen our support for students who have been traditionally underrepresented in higher education.”

With this new partnership, Scoir students will be able to seamlessly apply to all participating Coalition member institutions without needing to create a separate Coalition account or enter their information on a separate website.

The partnership will also benefit student supporters, like community-based organizations (CBOs) that provide free college advising services to students. These CBOs will be equipped with tools on Scoir to help guide their students through the college search and application process, increasing the impact of the integration to a greater number of students across the country.

“From day one, Scoir has been laser-focused on expanding college access and improving student outcomes. Through this partnership with the Coalition and Technolutions, we’ll be able to have a broader collective impact than we can on our own. We see tremendous potential to help more underserved students find and apply to affordable college options with a track record for supporting students to and through college,” says Gerry McCrory, Scoir’s founder and CEO.

To enable this streamlined approach, Scoir and the Coalition are partnering with Technolutions, the higher education technology company whose enrollment management platform, Slate, is the backbone of admission operations for more than 1,500 institutions across the country. An expanded integration between Slate and Scoir will allow for easy transmission of applications and related materials to colleges, and new opportunities for colleges to communicate with students and help guide them through the process.

“We are delighted to support the efforts of our member institutions to increase access to higher education, and this new partnership significantly improves the process through which students can apply to college,” says Alexander Clark, founder and CEO at Technolutions.
